Within the framework of EDIT, it is now clear that ECBOL is ready for the next step. Obtaining funding for barcoding is not always straightforward, and many times one could use some assistance to interact with major international organisations and companies. In WP 3.4 we have thus hired Dr Wouter Spek (formerly from EuroBiofund at ESF). |

Wouter is a biologist by training and has spent the majority of his career on networking, fundraising and business planning for both national and international research consortia. He has a vast international network consisting of key representatives from government, research, industry and finance. Wouter will be at CBS one day per week, and will be focused to generate more barcoding momentum, investigate new avenues for funding, and also strengthen the link with IBOL.
