EuroBioForum 2008

EuroBioFund is a subsidiary of the European Science Foundation with the objective to facilitate cooperation between European researchers and life science funding organizations. EuroBioFund seeks to identify future grand life science challenges which require a coordinated European approach in order to bring European science at a higher level. Every year EuroBioFund organizes EuroBioForum where a small number of promising initiatives is presented and discussed with the aim of creating a synergy between researchers and funders.

Calibrating European Biodiversity using Barcodes was selected to be one of five participants of EuroBioForum 2008. Its coordinator, Prof. Pedro Crous, presented the consortium during EBF 2008, where some 150 attendants discussed the presented proposals.

The questions below were addressed during the workshop:

• How important is the ECBOL initative for Europe in terms of biodiversity and climate change?
• What is the added value of a European approach?
• How is the ECBOL initative linked to other international networks?
• What is the optimal structure for implementation?
• How much finance is required?
• What is your interest in this initiative?
• What are the next steps to be taken?

If you are interested in funding the ECBOL initative or if you want to join it, please contact Prof. Pedro Crous (barcodeATcbs.knaw.nl).
