Fungal Barcoding at the IMC9
On 1-6 August 2010 the 9th International Mycological Congress (IMC9) took place in Edinburgh, Scotland. One of the themes "Evolution, Biodiversity and Systematics" included a session on fungal barcoding. This session consisted of six invited talks and 17 poster presentation that included options for the selection of an official barcode(s) for fungi as well as overviews of barcoding networks already underway. Also discussed was the generation and application of barcoding databases based on putitave fungal barcodes.
The aim of the session was to identify researchers interested in contributing to the selection of an official fungal barcode(s) and to establish large-scale barcoding projects as well as large multikingdom barcode projects such as iBOL.
